Kiwi Alpha FAQ |
Kiwi
Alpha stopped working after I installed SP2 for Windows XP. How can I fix
this ?
The problem is related to the limits SP2 for Windows XP puts to the
number of TCP connections a P2P program can make.
You can download a Microsoft
patch to restore P2P connectivity on your system.
You can also download a third
party patch to increase the number of TCP connections from 10 to 50.
Why doesn't
Kiwi Alpha connect ?
It's possible that your firewall or ZoneAlarm refuses Kiwi Alpha
to access the internet. Make sure your firewall is configured to allow Kiwi
Alpha full access to the Internet. If this doesn't help, reinstalling the
program might solve the problem.
How
to get the best download speeds ?
Sort the search results by the number of hosts and download the files with
the most hosts. Those will be the most popular files and will download simultaneously
from different hosts.
How
to find the files I want ?
Use the name of the artist or a specific word from the title as the
search query. This will give you the most search results. You can then use
the 'Search in Results' function to find exactly what you are looking for.
My connections
fall back to 1 after a while. What can I do ?
Disconnect and reconnect Kiwi Alpha by choosing 'Disconnect/Connect' from
the File menu.
Sometimes
my downloads get stuck. Is there a way to get them to resume ?
Try pausing and restarting the downloads which appear to be stuck. Also, the
best way to get more sources for a download is to do a new search for the
same file. When Kiwi Alpha finds new sources for a download they are immediately
used to restart a pending download and to boost download speeds.
Is there
a way to get more search results ?
The number of search results depends on the number of connections. Wait until
Kiwi Alpha has at least 6 connections before you start searching and you will
get a whole lot more search results.
